I started with the Foundation eight years ago as a part-time telefundraiser. At the time it was the perfect job for me, it allowed me to talk to lovely people and help raise funds by day, and pursue my music career by night. After about two years I became the team leader of the telefundraising team, and then the call centre manager.
Eventually a position became available in the Wonder Factory, which was incredibly exciting for me as the position suited my skill set much better. I applied for the position as entertainment coordinator and was lucky enough to gain the role! The Wonder Factory is the fun entertainment room for the sick and injured kids and their siblings here at the hospital. Four years of fun as the entertainment coordinator passed very quickly. As they say: “time flies when you're having fun”.
It was my role to organise fun activities, interview celebrities, go toy shopping, run the in-house TV station and organise great entertainers to come and brighten the day of many sick and injured kids! To say the job was rewarding would be an understatement! In late 2008 I was lucky enough to move up another rung on the ladder to become the Wonder Factory manager.
I feel incredibly blessed to work where I do and with the incredible team of people in the Wonder Factory and the Foundation. We are very proud of the services we provide to kids and their families and we’re always looking for new and improved ways to make sick kids smile and to improve their time in hospital.
I truly believe that I have the BEST job in the world, I work with some of the most passionate and bighearted people and it’s an honour and a pleasure to work for such an amazing organisation. I am 100 per cent proud to be part of the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation!
