LOLA HUGHES EFSTATHIS SCHOLARSHIPS IS CURRENTLY CLOSED

Through the generosity of Mrs Lola Hughes Efstathis the Children's Health Foundation is pleased to call for applications for the Lola Hughes Efstathis scholarships for 2013.

There are (2) Lola Hughes Efstathis Scholarships available, valued at $2,000 each.

ELIGIBILITY

The Scholarships are open to University of Queensland Medical undergraduates currently enrolled in any year of the Graduate Medical course in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The Scholarship is to enable a medical student to undertake a clinical attachment which will include a research project to be conducted in the Discipline of Paediatrics and Child Health under the supervision of a member of the academic staff in an approved research facility, department, ward or unit in the Royal Children's Hospital and Health Service District (RCH & HSD), Brisbane. The research project is to be conducted over 4 weeks.

An applicant must discuss the proposed research project and supervision with a consultant at the RCH & HSD, or with a member of the academic staff of the Discipline of Paediatrics and Child Health.

The research project may be conducted during the four week elective program in any year of the medical course.

HOW TO APPLY

Applicants are requested to do following;

  1. Complete all areas of the application form including relevant signatures prior to the closing date. This includes your principle supervisor.
  2. Application forms must be endorsed by the Academic Supervisor (Head of Academic Discipline) indicating the project is appropriate to the general facilities and support services available.
  3. Forward the original application along with four (4) copies to the address below and attach all supporting Ethics consideration if applicable. Applications will not be accepted after the advertised closing date and time.

HOW THE APPLICATIONS ARE ASSESSED

A Selection Committee composed of representatives from The University of Queensland and the RCH & HSD will consider the applications.

APPLICATION CLOSING DATE

Wednesday 31st October 2012 at 4.30pm.

IF GRANT APPLICATION IS SUCCESSFUL

Successful applicants will be required to provide a full report and financial acquittal to Children's Health Foundation. Grant terms and conditions will be outlined to recipients in their award letter.
The award of the two scholarships will be announced by COB Friday 30th November 2012.
