I chose to sign up to donate to the Children’s Health Foundation through payroll giving for several reasons.
Firstly, the Foundation is a cause that is very close to my heart. The Foundation is a truly incredible charity that works wonders for Queensland’s sick kids in hospital through investing in research and bringing laughter and smiles to patients and families.
Secondly, payroll giving has been a really effective way to donate for me. The donation is taken out of my pre-tax salary by my employer, which means I get the tax deduction immediately. It means that donating is really easy for me and also, that I don’t have to hang onto receipts at the end of the financial year to claim tax deductions.
I definitely feel that my donations every pay add up and make a huge difference in the lives of sick kids. You just have to visit the Royal Children’s Hospital to see first hand, the incredible work that the Foundation does in making the lives of sick kids and their families better through improved services and investing in medical research. And for the Foundation to have regular gifts from supporters like me, surely must make a huge impact on the work they are able to commit to.
I love working for a company that has such an active charity program. There is so much we get involved in, from fundraising in-store, to doing fun runs and challenges. It is also incredible to be able to come in to the hospital and see the amazing work that the Children's Health Foundation is doing every day with the support of companies like mine. I feel very lucky to work for a company that values the community so much and it does make me really happy to come to work every day.
