Wonder Factory

Volunteers provide a world of fun for young patients, their families and visitors and help them to get back to doing kids’ stuff!

The Wonder Factory is an interactive entertainment room that offers a diverse range of activities with the emphasis that the kids are in control over what is happening to them – a welcome change from their daily hospital lives.

As a Wonder Factory volunteer you will facilitate activities including arts and crafts, face painting, interactive competitions, video games, board games, karaoke, celebrity visits and even become a VJ on our very own television channel. Why not put on a costume, enter the dancing competition, run your own TV program or create a fantasy world?

For those kids who can't make it to the Wonder Factory, the Crew will go to them! Volunteers visit patients in the wards to provide a little fun and laughter, while parents can take some time out knowing their child is being supervised and entertained. Games, puzzles, playdough, and storytelling are just some of the activities offered to the children.

The Wonder Factory Crew also escort children and special guests, operate loans trolleys, maintain resources and ensure the safety of the kids by following our procedures.

You can be sure that you will not only bring joy to kids’ lives by volunteering at the Wonder Factory, but you are guaranteed to have loads of fun in the process!!

Operating hours:

• Weekdays: 7:00am – 7:45pm
• Weekends: 9:45am – 5:00pm

A variety of shift times are available during these hours.

Wonder Factory Resources Volunteer

Resources volunteers help to organise and maintain entertainment resources. This may include toys, games, costumes, furniture, DVD's, video games, craft material or other items utilised in the Wonder Factory. As a Resources Volunteer, you will also maintain resource registers, equipment record books, storage areas and trolleys. You will assist Wonder Factory volunteers by preparing resources for them to use, such a making playdough, and will distribute and collect resources in the wards.

Operating hours: 9:00am – 7:30pm with a minimum shift commitment of two hours per fortnight.
