Everest Virtual Challenge
The Everest Virtual Challenge is a walking program designed to count the steps of a team of people – family, friends or work colleagues. Using pedometers and the official Everest Challenge website, teams can track their progress along the virtual route during the month of March to keep fit, help sick kids and maybe pick up some great incentive prizes along the way!
Participating in the Everest Challenge is a fun way to measure and improve your level of physical activity as part of a team, while raising much needed funds for the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation.
An impressive 785 people, in 67 teams, participated online in the 2007 Everest Virtual Challenge. Their determination in this gruelling trek will not be forgotten! The money raised will work wonders for sick kids by funding vital children’s medical research, as well as entertainment and welfare services for kids at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation would also love to thank our 2007 financial sponsor, Heritage Building Society; our media partners Bluewire Media, Channel 10, and Nova 106.9 FM Radio; and our prize sponsors Anaconda, Kathmandu, Tentworld, Fitness First, Rocksports Indoor Climbing and National Geographic. These organisations have all made an impressive contribution to children’s healthcare.
The combined money raised from individual and team fundraising, and from our sponsors resulted in more than $60,000 in funds that will help bring a smile to the faces of some very sick kids.
