Applications
Step 1
The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation calls applications through notices in appropriate publications, press advertisements, letters, circulars and posters. Application forms and guidelines are distributed.
Step 2
Applications received by the closing date are checked for compliance with guidelines, the Ethics Committee and other clearances, institutional approval and appropriate sign-offs.
Step 3
RCHF Grants Office then refers applications to the Research Committee for initial assessment of general scientific standard.
Step 4
The committee refers appropriate applications for external peer review on scientific merit. The reviewers’ reports are discussed and their scores are aggregated and ranked. The top scoring applications are then submitted to the RCHF Grants Committee with a report on suitability for funding.
Step 5
RCHF Grants Committee considers the top scoring applications and submits recommendations to the Board based on the availability of funds, relevance to mission, fit with Health Service District priorities, benefits to Queensland children and other criteria.
Step 6
The Board makes the final decision and awards research grants subject to the acceptance of grant conditions by the successful applicants. If no applications are received which are considered to be of an appropriate standard, or if they do not meet the specific criteria, the Foundation reserves the right NOT to offer any award in that particular year.
Step 7
Successful grant recipients must present annual progress reports and justification of expenditure for review by the Research Committee. Ongoing funding is dependent on favourable progress reviews.
