Donate to 1200kms for kids at the Gold Coast this weekend
Duncan Easton, a participant in this year's 1200kms for kids charity bike ride will be collecting donations at Westfield Helensvale on the Gold Coast from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 June 2008.1200kms for kids is a group of non professional cyclists undertaking a five-day, 1200km journey from Sydney to Brisbane in September 2008, to raise much need funds for the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation, Queensland and the Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation.
"I am riding because a friend from work approached me to be part of the ride after one of his daughters spent several months in there as a baby. Another friend from work, and ride participant, also lost his son to an unknown virus, so I want to do what I can to help fund research and equipment for the hospital."
In 2006 the ride raised over $130000, and the organisers are hoping to beat this in 2008.
Duncan will be taking donations and selling merchandise. All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible.
