Making Music Being Well Week

12-18 May 2008

The Royal Children's Hospital's Music Therapy Department is hosting Making Music Being Well Week as part of a national celebration to highlight the role of active music making in promoting health and well-being.

The week is part of a national celebration of the contribution of music to health, initiated by the Australian Music Therapy Association and The Music Council of Australia's "Music. Play for Life" Campaign.

During the week of May 12-18, the Music Therapy Department will host a musical performance at 10.30am on the front lawn at the Royal Children's Hospital.

As well as giving patients, parents, staff and the larger community an opportunity to participate in the wonder of 'musical experience', the week also gives resident music therapists the opportunity to educate the public about the benefits of music therapy for sick kids at the Royal Children's Hospital, and to acknowledge the ongoing support of the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation.
