The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation re-opened today after an extraordinary week of devastation and inspiration as Queenslanders united to tackle the floods inundating homes across Brisbane and the State.
After four days of closure, the Foundation has once again opened to continue supporting the 30,000 sick and injured kids who visit the hospital each year, many of whom come from areas devastated by the floods.
Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Karenlee Spillane, said that while the Foundation is back to business, the flood victims and our supporters are in our thoughts.
“While we get back to working wonders for sick kids, our thoughts and prayers go out to all those whose lives have been affected by these devastating floods either directly or indirectly through their family, friends and colleagues,” Ms Spillane said.
As the clean-up across the State continues, the Foundation will continue to help raise funds for vital research and entertainment services to assist in creating a community of healthier kids.
“Families from as far south as Northern NSW to Cairns and beyond rely on the Foundation’s vital funding and we are dedicated to ensuring our sick kids have the very best in medical care and support services at times when they need it most,” Ms Spillane said.
The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation works wonders for sick kids by investing in groundbreaking research leading to faster diagnosis, better treatments and ultimately cures for sick and injured kids.
Our team of dedicated volunteers help deliver patient care and entertainment services to provide welcome support for parents and bring smiles and laughter to sick kids.
