47 amateur cyclists from the Qld Fire and Rescue Service rode into Cairns after an 875km journey from Mackay.
The extraordinary men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting the safety and wellbeing of all Queenslanders were inspirational through their efforts in the 5th annual Bike 4 Burns charity bike ride.
Bike 4 Burns, which helps fund the Burns Unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital, is undertaken on a voluntary basis by riders who seek to improve treatment outcomes for kids suffering from devastating burns injuries.
Since its inception the charity ride has raised more than $170,000 for the Royal Children’s Hospital. All funds raised through the Bike 4 Burns Charity Bike Ride will be invested into researching and developing better methods for treating burns – to speed recovery, reduce scarring and minimise pain, as well as developing and implementing burns prevention campaigns.

The 2011 ride is anticipated to be the most successful yet with an aim of raising more than $48,000 for the little patients at the Royal Children’s Hospital. Donations are still being accepted; to make a donation in support of Bike4Burns or one of the participants click here
