What We Do

June for Juanita

David Lindsay, a boat builder from Sheldon, is sailing a 4.2 metre caper catamaran from Brisbane to Mackay in memory of his youngest daughter, Juanita. Leaving 1st June, what would have been Juanita’s 21st birthday, he is hoping to raise $50,000 for oncology research.

A message from David Lindsay

David_Lindsay_webarticle.jpgIn August 2007 we sadly lost our youngest daughter, Juanita, after a long battle with cancer.

Juanita had a lifetime of experiences in her short 18 years. Throughout her illness, her strength and humour always shone through.

In Juanita’s memory, I will be sailing a 4.2 metre catamaran from Brisbane to Mackay to raise much needed funds for oncology research at the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The Royal Children’s Hospital is the home of the Queensland Children’s Cancer Centre, Queensland’s only tertiary centre for the treatment of kids with cancer.

It is our hope that one day there will be a cure, so children and families won’t have to endure the pain, anxiety and grief that comes with this horrible disease.

Please make a donation and help us raise $50,000 to help develop better and less invasive treatment, and ultimately cures, for kids with cancer.

Thank you for your support.

  3. Go, David! This is a huge undertaking but such a wonderful gesture of love in memory of Juanita and giving hope and help to other families. Stay safe, and we hope you exceed your fund-raising target. Come on, people, let's get behind this family and support this gutsy effort.
