June for Juanita entry in Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race

Good Friday is the start of the 2010 Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race. Entrant Les Brown, skipper of the boat Fairwind, has renamed his boat June for Juanita Fairwind and will be raising money and support for crew member David Lindsay, as he begins preparation for his solo sailing venture in June.

The Brisbane to Gladstone race runs from Friday 2 April to Sunday 4 April.

June for Juanita is a fundraising initiative undertaken by the Lindsay family in memory of their youngest daughter, Juanita, who sadly lost her long battle with cancer at just 18 years old. In her memory, her father, David Lindsay, will be sailing a 4.2 metre Caper Catamaran from Brisbane to Mackay leaving on 1st June, which would have been Juanita’s 21st birthday. With community support they have already raised more than $25,000 for cancer research.
