After a successful eight months of fundraising, Logan's Run has raised over $55,000 in memory of Logan Wells. On the 18th of January 2010 Logan was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma and sadly passed away on 11th of December 2010. In memory of Logan, his friends and family decided to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, and in particular oncology research.
What initially began as a group of people participating in the 2011 Bridge to Brisbane soon developed into a much bigger fundraising venture. The Whitsunday and Brisbane community got behind Logan’s parents Lisa and Garth and supported them with their fundraising efforts.
Lisa and Garth received phenomenal support with their fundraising events which included a trivia night and monster auction; an amateur chef night; a promotional stall and entertainment at Whitsunday Centro; pyjama day; the sale of Logie Bears; the Cannonvale State School Garden Project; and so much more.
Logan’s Run as the signature event was a tremendous success. 85 passionate supporters donned their Wonder Team t-shirts in September and participated in the Bridge to Brisbane raising even more valuable fundraising dollars.
Fundraising for Logan’s Run for 2011 has come to a close, however they have already begun planning next year’s events. The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation would like to thank Logan’s family, friends and the Queensland community for getting behind Logan’s Run and helping to fund important oncology research. It is through this support that the RCHF is able to continue to invest in oncology research to help develop better and less invasive treatments for kids with cancer.
