The Noosa Triple 000 12 Hour Mountain Bike Challenge held on Saturday 17th April, with more than 200 participants taking the challenge to raise funds for Queensland’s sick kids.
The challenge involved participants either solo or in groups, riding a 13km circuit in the state forest around Pomona, as many times as possible in 12 hours.
Despite tough conditions, participants battled the mud, wind and rain all day from 8am to complete the event at 8pm on Saturday night.
With all registration monies, raffle proceeds and donations on the day coming to the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, the challenge really showed the commitment of the participants to take on a tough challenge to work wonders for sick kids.
Sergeant Scott Woodward of the Sunshine Coast District said the event was a personal challenge with significance for every participant.
“Everyone who participates in The Noose Triple 000 Mountain Bike Challenge will undertake a personal challenge of their own, in order to raise funds for the sick kids who face enormous personal challenges every day in hospital.
“By the end of this challenge, not only will you have accomplished something personally, but you will have the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped these courageous kids in their fight against cancer.”
The Noosa Triple 000 12 Hour Mountain Bike Challenge was organised by several members of the Queensland Police Service; who willingly gave their time to run this event to raise funds for the Foundation. Special thanks to Scott Woodward, Richard Dodds, Brad Cuthbert, Roger Marek and many other volunteers including the SES who gave of their time on the day to help make the day a smooth success.
Thanks to registration, donations on the day, raffle proceeds and online fundraising will raise close to $15,000 for cancer research at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Thank you to the Queensland Police Service, Pomona State School, all participants who toughed it out on the day and to all sponsors of the event for helping make the event a success.
Fingers are now crossed for less mud, wind and rain for next year’s Noosa Triple 000 12 Hour Mountain Bike Challenge.
