What We Do

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

The Wonder Factory at the Royal Children’s Hospital was transformed into a flower-filled garden recenlty when it hosted the annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic.

Since the weather made it impossible to hold the picnic outside on the hospital lawn, the Wonder Factory Crew and volunteers did an extraordinary job of bringing the outdoors inside.

Woolworths staff were on hand at the picnic to give out teddy bears to patients and their siblings. Volunteers also took teddies to the wards for those kids who couldn’t make it to the Wonder Factory.

After a delicious morning tea, the kids were treated to a magic show by Magic Glen, who captivated his audience with tricks, illusions and balloon creations.

The Teddy Bear’s Picnic marks the launch of the 2011 Woolworths Fresh Food Kids Hospital Appeal, which helps the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation to work wonders for sick kids by raising much-needed funds for respiratory and nutrition research.

A “beary” big thank you to Gladland Flowers, Tip Top and Pine Valley for providing the picnic essentials: flowers, food and of course bears! Thanks also to Magic Glen and to Woolworths, as well as all the Foundation staff and volunteers who helped create a fun-filled morning at the Hospital.
