We are rolling out the 2010 P&P update from Monday 11 October for a period of one month. This training is mandatory and is a legal requirement.
There is a volunteer register located in the Wonder Factory. This register is for ALL volunteers including all services such as cuddle carers, theatre volunteers, administration volunteers and information desk volunteers. The training will be conducted in the Wonder Factory.
Volunteers will
• Receive a paper copy of the updated Policies and Procedures for their specific service
• Watch the Fire – evacuation DVD
• Watch the Manual Handling DVD
• Sign the register when they have completed their 2010 update
• Entertainment volunteers will have a copy of their updated Service Specific Policies and Procedures manual emailed to them this month.
Would you be interested in participating in a clinical vaccine trial for Dengue Fever? The QPID Clinical Trials Group at the Royal Children’s Hospital is conducting a vaccine study for a potential new Dengue Vaccine for healthy adults aged between 18 and 60 years. To be included in the study you must be healthy; not have lived in a Dengue endemic area for 1 year or longer; have never had a Yellow Fever and/or Japanese Encephalitis vaccination or infection; be able to participate for 18 months. Nundah Child Community Health Centre need a volunteer to help them run their program for new Mums on Wednesday mornings from 6 October to 24 November from 9am to 12pm. On Saturday 6 November the hospital will be holding its annual Remembrance Day ceremony. To allow families to attend the ceremony we need volunteers to supervise the children that don’t wish to attend (or only want to attend for part of the ceremony). From Thursday 2 September until Sunday 31 October 2010 for every $10 spent at Coles Supermarkets, Coles Online, Bi-Lo and Pick’n Pay customers will earn a Coles Sports for Schools voucher worth 1 point (given at check out). Please feel free to collect these vouchers and give them to your supervisor who will drop them into the voucher collection box at the Royal Children Hospital State School.
