Welcome to  this week's edition of Watch this Space.

B105 Christmas Appeal Wrap Up, Party Day and Kids Christmas Party

Last Friday was possibly the biggest day of the year at the hospital.  Friday morning B105 hosted a free breakfast on the front lawn and wrapped up the B105 Christmas Appeal, broadcasting live from the hospital and presenting a cheque to the Foundation for $403,200.  A massive effort and a wonderful outcome.  Thank you to all those that assisted with the Appeal either manning the hotline or hitting the streets at the crack of dawn for our City Blitz.

Following on from this was Party Day with all of the wards decorating their area with their chosen theme of “When I Grow Up”.  Everyone made a huge effort but the winning ward was Turner with their Circus theme.

If this wasn’t enough celebrating for one day we held our Kids Christmas Party in the afternoon.  Pip Russell from Totally Wild hosted the day and a huge thank you must be extended to Pip for all the effort she put into organising and hosting the day.

We had a petting zoo, reptiles from Scales, Jaws and Claws, a performance by Flipside Circus and beat boxer Joel Turner.  Peebo & Dagwood entertained the crowd with their clowning around and Brett Campbell provided some wonderful carols while the kids had their faces painted and glitter tattoos applied.  Of course, it wouldn’t have been a Christmas Party without Santa, who arrived in great style on the back of a Police motorbike!  What a day.

Coen – Murray CODD

Some of you will remember Coen as our face for the Volunteer Appreciation week two years ago.  He and his mum Dawn attended our lunch and he happily autographed his picture on the invitations and some of you may know him from the Wonder Factory as he is a regular visitor.

A lovely story on an amazing young man,  Coen has Cystic Fibrosis and requires a double lung transplant.  He is on a mission to raise organ donor awareness and is jet skiing the Murray.

Attached is a story recently aired on the 7pm Project, Coen’s story starts around the 6.03 mark.  And you can follow his journey on his Facebook page.

Comings and Goings

This week we welcome John, Ben, Amy, Hollie, Quentin, Sarah and Courtney.

Useless Tip of the Week

Christmas trees are edible. Many parts of pines, spruces, and firs can be eaten. The needles are a good source of vitamin C. Pine nuts, or pine cones, are also a good source of nutrition.  Note that this is only applicable to the live trees, not your store bought non-perishable ones.
