Get Involved

Weekly update, 16 August 2010

Welcome to this week's edition of Watch This Space where you'll find some lovely feedback, some great photos of our visit from the National Rodeo Association and of course our Useless Tip of the Week!!

Feedback

This week we received some lovely feedback from a family who visit the hospital often.

“The Wonder Factory staff and volunteers have been great. Even though we can’t get down there, they always come over to see if we are OK and whether we need anything. In stressful situations like ours they are just a breath of fresh air. It really helps to take your mind off things and get you through the tough times. They are so warm, friendly and inviting and it makes such a difference!”

Well done to my team of fantastic WF Staff & volunteers.  I know you do a wonderful job however it is always nice to get the feedback.

Comings and Goings

This week we welcomed Alison Spencer, Jessica McLoughlin and Kyle-Lee Young to the Wonder Factory crew.

National Rodeo Association

The National Rodeo Association came to visit the children on Sunday afternoon. They setup straw bales and cow heads to teach the children how to lasso pretend cattle. Their activity was on the front lawn of the hospital. I am not sure who had more fun the children or the volunteers.

Street Commodore’s Cruise for Charity

Thank you to Katrina EM Community and our volunteers Amy, Ella, Jodie, Lauren, Niikee & Rebecca for your time at the Street Commodore’s 'Cruise For Charity' event in Brisbane.  This was the first time we assisted with this event.  Between the first two events in Brisbane and Sydney, an amazing $55,000 has been raised.  This is an amazing achievement, a record result for this event and a fabulous start for CHFA's involvement.

The ‘Cruise For Charity’ national organisers would also like to pass on their congratulations to the RCHF volunteers (you!) who worked the Brisbane Cruise.  Adam Check (CEO of Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation) sent an email also to extend his gratitude for your hard work and support.
