Get Involved

Weekly update, 21 February 2011

Welcome to  this week's edition of Watch this Space.

News of the Wonder Factory reaches Cairns!

We recently received a call from a teacher at Cairns Hospital who wanted to know about our volunteer services and the Wonder Factory.  Contacting us was prompted by the return of the kids that had been evacuated to RCH during cyclone Yasi. The kids all returned to Cairns talking excitedly about how much fun they’d had at this place called the Wonder Factory!!

Comings and Goings

This week we welcome Shannon to the Wonder Factory crew and say goodbye to Demetri.  We would like to thank Demetri for his dedication to working wonders for sick kids. He has been part of the Saturday crew for just over 2 years. We wish him all the best.

Volunteer Tip of the Week

Exciting news for our Cuddle Carers – they have just received a new uniform.  To make the Cuddle Carers easier to distinguish (as they are the only volunteers trained and allowed to be in contact with any patients under 12months of age) they are now sporting very stylish magenta aprons.  You’ll be able to spot them from a mile away!

Photo of the Week

Wonderful Cuddle Carers volunteers Bev and Susan are caught in action doing what they do best and looking fabulous in their new magenta aprons.
