This week we say "Congratulations", "Thank You's" and "Welcomes"!! Also dont forget to check out the Special Projects and Events Page for where we need an extra hand!
Simon Smith, one of our Wonder Factory volunteers, has been nominated by the Courier Mail for this year’s Pride of Australia Awards under the category of Community Spirit. We wish Simon all the very best as he represents all our wonderful volunteers.
“A Queensland University of Technology law student, Mr Smith, 21, of Tweed Heads, is a
volunteer at the Royal Children's Hospital Wonder Factory, where kids who are patients, their siblings, cousins or friends who are visiting or staying with them, can play.
He has been nominated in the Community Spirit category, which recognises an individual or group whose selfless, tireless and largely unacknowledged actions have enriched the lives of those around
them in their community.
"I have been lucky in life and believe it's important to give back," Mr Smith said. "Being able to brighten the day of kids stuck in hospital through no fault of their own is very rewarding." - Sunday Mail Brisbane - 23-May-2010
A big thank you goes out to Bev MacQueen this week for putting her hand up to do an extra day to help us in our hour of need and help fill the Information Desk shift on Thursday! Thank you so much for your help!

This week on Wednesday and Thursday nights we held training for 37 new volunteers. This is an amazing turn up considering the State of Origin was on Wednesday night, so we say a HUGE thank you to everyone for attending!!
Last night two of our new inductees were brave enough to face the Phantom Flanner (who was actually one of our patients this week!), they copped a cream pie to the face and it was broadcast up to the wards. Thank you Emma and Tim for being such good sports!
With Sarah’s appointment to Wonder Factory Administration Officer, we are now recruiting a Wonder Factory Supervisor.
