Weekly update, 31 October 2011

Welcome to this week's edition of Watch this Space.

Volunteer Christmas Party

When:   Saturday, 26 November
               11:30am – 2:30pm
Where: Riverlife, Kangaroo Point.
               Riverlife is housed in Brisbane's heritage listed Naval Stores. Access to
               Riverlife can be found via Lower River Terrace or River Terrace, Kangaroo
               Point.

RSVP: RSVP by Friday, 11 November. No RSVPs can be accepted after this date.

This function is paid for by the Foundation, it is not a donation. Please only RSVP yes if you will definitely be attending. We pay for you even if you don’t show on the day. To RSVP please add your name to the list that is available where you sign-on for your shift.
There will be a shuttle bus available that will leave the RCH at 11:10am and will pick-up at 2:30pm to return to the RCH. If you need a seat on the shuttle bus please add YES in the column on the RSVP list.
Riverlife is housed in Brisbane's heritage listed Naval Stores. Access to Riverlife can be found via Lower River Terrace or River Terrace, Kangaroo Point.

City Ferry

Catch the Thornton Street ferry from Eagle Street Pier. Turn right when you get off the ferry and follow the Riverlife signs. Riverlife is 300m from the Thornton Street Ferry Terminal.

By Car (Parking)

Note that there is strictly no parking at Riverlife itself.
Riverlife Terrace - park at the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs next to 'The Cliffs Cafe', walk down the cliff staris, turn right and walk 300m to Riverlife.
Lower River Terrace - park in the free public carpark at the base of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, then follow the Riverlife signs along the river and cycle path, a distance of 800m.
Hamilton Street (off Bright Street) - take a short 350m walk along the river and cycle path towards the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.
Direct disabled access to Riverlife is available upon request (via Lower River Terrace, Thornton Street Ferry Terminal or Hamilton Street, Kangaroo Point)

Taxi

Catch a taxi to Thornton Street, walk down to the Thornton Street Ferry Terminal, turn left and follow the Riverlife signs. Riverlife is 300m from the Thornton Street ferry terminal.

Train

Take any train to South Bank Station. Riverlife is a 2km walk along the river from the station in the direction of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.

Public Bus
Take any Brisbane City Council bus to the South Bank Busway Station. Riverlife is a 2km walk along the river from the bus station in the direction of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.

City Sights Bus

Take the City Sights Bus to River Terrace, Kangaroo Point. Walk down the cliff stairs next to 'The Cliffs Cafe', turn right and walk 300m to Riverlife.

Event:    B105 City Blitz - We Need Your Help
               The B105 Christmas Appeal is an annual appeal run by radio station B105.
               This is it’s 17th year, and last year it raised over $480,000.
               Family & friends all welcome we require 30 people each day.
Date:     Monday 6th December
               Tuesday 7th December
               Wednesday 8th December
Shift:      6.00am – 9.30am
Location: Brisbane City CBD various locations
                  Meeting point Anzac Square
Role:    Taking Donations via collection tin

Event:   B105 Outside Broadcast
              This is a great day on the front lawn, the finale of the two week event.
Date:    Friday 9th December
Shift:     6.00am – 9.30am
Location: RCH – front lawn
Role:   Glitter Tattoo’s x 2 volunteers required
             Wonder Kid x 1 volunteer - must be under 170cm in height for this role.
            Wonder Kids minder x 1 volunteer

Event:    Coles Raffle – call out
               This a call out to help us gather numbers to count and sort the Coles raffle tickets.
               It will be located in the Foundation building so a Blue card is not required.
Date:     Wednesday November 23rd – Thursday 1st December
Shift:     Anytime Monday to Friday between 7.00am and 4:00pm
Location: Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation Lady Norman Wing
Role:     Counting and sorting raffle tickets.

Volunteer Tip of the Week

It is imperative that you advise your Supervisor as soon as any of your contact details change. It is extremely important for us to have your correct details in the event of shift changes, closures and emergencies.
