Please come and play! We currently only have one volunteer rostered for this shift. The Wonder Factory will be open from 10:00am-2:00pm. There is a sign on sheet in the Wonder Factory kitchen for you to register your interest if you would like to come and play. Unfortunately there are still kids in hospital who would love to be distracted even on the holidays.
N: B It is business as usual for the rest of the week.

Last Tuesday was a great success as the Brisbane Ekka came to the Royal Children's Hospital. There was much excitement as show bags were handed out to all of the patients. Sideshow alley was a massive hit with some fabulous toys to be won and a visit from some orphaned lambs lit up the faces of kids and adults! A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the activities. Lots of fun was had by all.

The Queensland Government will extend the Queensland Ready Readers program by providing free reader training for volunteers to support Prep to Year 3 students in their children’s literacy development.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn strategies which they can use at home to support their own children’s reading. Strategies such as book selection and language development help build a child’s confidence, motivation, enjoyment and a strong foundation for successful reading in their life.
During the A Flying Start for Queensland Children consultation, participants made two strong points about giving children an early advantage. The first was about raising the awareness of parents as partners in teaching and the second was about providing training to families about reading to children.
RCH School would love to implement this program to support the literacy of students at our school. The focus is on students from Prep-Year 3. The training is free and is being held at Craigslea State High School.
After the training program, the Ready Readers will be able to volunteer to read with students at RCH School. For more information please contact Theresia Murray on 38521199 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
